Sandip Patel, MD: Cancer and the Immune System

The immune system should be able to recognize and reject cancer the same way it finds and destroys viruses and bacteria, but cancer has found ways to evade immune detection. Sandip Patel, MD, discusses the use of cancer immunotherapy to reawaken the immune response that's already within you to best fight the cancer, as well as the two main types of cancer immunotherapy currently being used to treat patients at Moores Cancer Center. This talk was given at a UC San Diego Health education event on Aug. 20, 2016.
